Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter each slice of bread, and place it in a 9 by 13 inch buttered glass baking dish. Brown sausage with chopped onion. Drain and pat with paper towels. Sprinkle green chiles, cilantro, and jalapeno over sausage. Spoon sausage mixture over bread. Cover sausage with shredded cheese. In a separate bowl, beat eggs with dry mustard, salt and cumin. Add half and half to eggs and beat again. Pour egg mixture over sausage and cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until casserole is bubbly and lightly browned on top. (May be prepared and refrigerated overnight before baking.)
