Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit. Scoop the flesh into a medium-sized bowl. (Do not throw away the pit)
Add the red onion, cilantro, jalapeño pepper, garlic, and salt to the bowl.
Mash the avocado mixture with a fork until it's smooth with a few chunks remaining.
Add the lime juice and stir until combined.
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Guacamole will last longer if you leave the pits in them!
Serve with chips or on whatever your heart desires.
