One Number, One Food, One Decision at a Time
Navigating all of the nutritional information in a grocery store can be pretty complicated, but NuVal scores help you make informed choices at a glance. All foods and beverages are rated on a scale of 1 to 100 — the higher the NuVal Score, the better the overall nutrition. Look for scores displayed directly on shelf tags, scale labels, and other signage throughout the store so you can make quick and easy nutritional comparisons between foods.
We Do The Science
So You Don't Have To
NuVal scores incorporate more than 30 factors including carbohydrate, protein and fat content, as well as the quality of the nutrients. Not-so-healthy components, such as trans fats, saturated fats, cholesterol, sugar, and sodium are also factored into the NuVal score. The higher the number, the better the nutrition.
Information You Can Trust
Scores are calculated by an independent panel of nutrition and medical experts from leading universities and health organizations. NuVal scores are not influenced by food and beverage manufacturers or special interest groups, so you can be sure the scores are accurate.
